Improving detection and management of stroke risk

  • Oxford AHSN programme improving detection and management of atrial fibrillation (AF) which increases risk of stroke​
  • Working with all 15 AHSNs, CCGs, GPs, pharmacists, NHS trusts and industry​
  • Nationally 130,000 people with undiagnosed irregular heart rhythm identified in first year​
  • 750+ patients with AF had anticoagulation initiated or optimised through Oxford AHSN projects, preventing 40 strokes per year.
