Join our free webinar on implementing mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischaemic stroke

The Oxford AHSN is hosting a free webinar on implementing mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischaemic stroke in the UK.

The webinar is linked to the forthcoming publication of the second edition of a practical guide to implementation. The three editors (Professor Gary Ford – Oxford, Professor Martin James – Exeter, Professor Phil White – Newcastle) will discuss progress since the first edition was published in 2019 including evidence updates and a focus on service provision and response to the pandemic. Other contributors include David Hargroves, the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) national clinical lead for stroke, and frontline clinicians who will discuss how they used the initial guide.

Professor Ford, a stroke consultant, Chief Executive of the Oxford AHSN and Chair of the national AHSN Network, said: “Mechanical thrombectomy has transformed outcomes for people with some of the most serious disabling strokes, yet each year 8,000 people in the UK who would benefit do not access the treatment. We hope this updated practical guidance helps to address this imbalance.”
