Briefing provides insight into SBRI application process

photoLife sciences businesses, NHS organisations and researchers were among those who found out more about funding opportunities through SBRI at a briefing today organised by the Oxford AHSN.

The deadline for applications in the latest round is Thursday 10 July – but another competition will be launched with different themes in the autumn.

SBRI aims to get new products and technologies into the NHS to improve care and reduce inefficiency.

SBRI Healthcare National Director Karen Livingstone said they have a £20m budget to invest this year – that equates to about 40 phase 1 trials of £100,000 each and up to £1m each for phase2/3 developments.

Keith Errey, Chief Executive of Isansys, which has made successful bids for SBRI funding, said: “It is far and away the best funding mechanism I have ever seen.”

Keith said the SBRI application process was straightforward, easy to follow and transparent.
