Introduction to evaluation of diagnostics

First day of three days of diagnostic evidence workshops organised by the National Institute for Health Research Community Healthcare Medtech and In vitro diagnostics Co-operative (MIC).

Aimed at all involved in diagnostic tests including people working in industry, academia, research funding and regulatory affairs.

Topics covered include how to obtain regulatory approval, how NICE evaluates new diagnostic technology, how to collect evidence to support adoption in routine clinical practice and different study designs, cost effectiveness analysis and statistical methods for evaluating diagnostic accuracy.

The day 1 workshop covers components relating to evaluation of diagnostic tests, including health economics, basic statistics, searching for evidence and study design.
