The ‘Open up about medicines’ campaign aimed to reduce medicines wastage and improve outcomes by encouraging patients to ‘open up’ in their interactions with GPs and pharmacists.
This included opening up and checking the contents of prescription medicine bags to ensure they contained only what was needed.
‘Open up about medicines’ emerged in a partnership between Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group and Wessex Academic Health Science Network. It was developed by the Oxford AHSN with CCGs in Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
Campaign materials including posters and leaflets were made available at 180 GP practices.
