The Oxford Academic Health Science Network Children’s Clinical Network is committed to reducing variation in care based on best evidence so that parents get consistent advice and children get the right treatment – wherever they are.
Led by Professor Andrew Pollard and Dr Craig McDonald with support from a Network Nurse and Network Manager, we have brought together over 250 clinicians, providers, academics and others working with children to ensure the best care across our region.
We identify where there is potential for improving care and work with other stakeholders to support change. We identify and disseminate best practice guidance across our region, reducing the need for replication and ensuring children receive care to the best standard.
We work with the health sector and life science industry to help speed up the adoption of innovations and concepts which will add measurable value to children’s healthcare.
We work with children’s clinicians in the following trusts:
- Royal Berkshire
- Frimley Health
- Great Western Hospitals
- Oxford University Hospitals
- Milton Keynes University Hospital
- Buckinghamshire Healthcare
Our Children’s Network Board meets four times a year, providing advice and guidance on our work programme. The Board includes paediatricians, research nurses, a GP, a children’s commissioner, specialists in vaccination and representatives from NHS England, Public Health England and the Thames Valley Strategic Clinical Network (Children and Maternity).
