Poster competition

Dozens of children in Years 1 and 2 at schools across the Oxford AHSN region (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes) took part in our poster competition to raise awareness and understanding of the nasal flu spray programme. They designed some fantastic posters to illustrate the competition title: ‘This is what I would look like with flu’. The overall winner was by Owen Lock, six, of RAF Benson primary school, see his poster, left.

We were delighted that Dr Ranj from the CBeebies show Get Well Soon came along to Owen’s school to give him his prize and take part in a special assembly about flu. Dr Ranj is an NHS doctor specialising in the care of children, young people and families. He features in an excellent film about the flu immunisation programme in our resource sections in Zone 1 and Zone 2.

Schools are very important partners in this programme as most children have little contact with healthcare providers in primary school. We are providing a PHSE learning toolkit and films aimed at children in Years 1 and 2 who are getting the flu vaccine for the first time in 2015.

  • To find information about flu vaccination for parents and children visit Zone 1.
  • If you have any comments about our flu pages please email us. We cannot answer every individual query we receive, but we will use your suggestions and questions to improve the website.
  • Please consult your GP or other healthcare provider if you need specific advice on the flu vaccine for your child.
