Over 70 people attended the first Oxford AHSN and NHS England South (Central) event for GP Practice Participation Groups (PPGs), organised by the Thames Valley & Milton Keynes Patient Experience Strategy Group. The meeting covered what’s important to Clinical Commissioning Groups, including how best to share good practice and work better together across the region.
Attendees valued the new networking shared opportunities and wanted more similar events.

The Oxford AHSN took part in the Oxfordshire Science Festival. Over 300 people visited our stands in the centre of Oxford and Abingdon, attracted by a chocolate ‘clinical trial’ and other games for children and adults.
A big hit with children was ‘Paul’, who could be dismantled to show the position of different organs in the body. He was chaperoned by members of the Oxford AHSN Diabetes Clinical Network who also provided updates on their islet cell transplant project.
Oxford AHSN staff worked with colleagues from the Clinical Research Network and the Oxford CLAHRC (Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care) who encouraged people to get involved in research.
