The Oxford AHSN Anxiety and Depression (IAPT) Network hosted an extended network conference on 21st October 2015. See links to papers below.
The conference was titled ‘Commissioning and providing high quality and value psychological therapies’. It was aimed at supporting providers and commissioners of IAPT services in understanding how to improve recovery rates and patient outcomes for patients with long term conditions and co-morbid depression and/or anxiety.
Key speakers included:
- Kevin Mullins, Head of Mental Health, NHS England
- Professor David Clark, Network Clinical Lead and National IAPT Advisor
- Professor Shirley Reynolds, Network Clinical Lead for Children and Young people
Jackie Prosser (Programme Lead, Primary Care Mental Health & Ill Health Prevention, Aylesbury Vale and Chiltern CCGs) led a very stimulating session in the afternoon looking at the question: ‘Prevention in primary care: does IAPT have a role to play?’
Over 60 people attended including A&D network IAPT service leads, IAPT service leads from outside the Oxford AHSN area, a number of patient representatives, representatives from HEIs within and outside the Oxford AHSN area and both clinical and managerial commissioners.
Feedback was very positive:
- 54.55% of people rated the conference 4/5 (5 = Excellent)
- 36.36% rated it 5/5
- 90.91% stated that this event ‘met their expectations’
